Alicia chose to become a family law attorney to practice in an area of law which is more personal. Alicia has spent her career helping clients take control of their own life and that of their children during very tumultuous and stressful situations. Alicia approaches her role as a client’s advocate in very emotionally difficult times with compassion, reason, and a focus on helping clients determine what he or she needs to feel secure and getting it. Her advice, settlement negotiations, and trial strategy are guided by her tireless advocacy.
Alicia was born in Annapolis in 1972. She grew up in Glen Burnie and on the Eastern Shore. Alicia graduated from Queen Anne’s County High School in 1990; she later attended Washington College where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
As a member of a family who has lived in Anne Arundel County for several generations, Alicia moved back to Anne Arundel County in 1994 when she began attending the University of Baltimore School of Law. While attending law school she began clerking for the Honorable J. Owen Wise of the Circuit Court for Caroline County. Alicia received her Juris Doctor degree in 1997 and was admitted to the Maryland State Bar in 1998.
Following her admission to the bar Alicia began her practice handling personal injury, district court criminal cases, debt collections and family law cases. Beginning in 2000 she joined her friend from law school Corrie A. Boulay at the Law Offices of Corrie A. Boulay, focusing solely on issues affecting families.
Outside of work, Alicia enjoys spending time with her significant other, cats, and American Bulldog, Bella. Alicia loves cooking, gardening and volunteering her time through various organizations, including The Moose where she constantly raises money to provide for the educational and daily needs of the children of Mooseheart whose parents are unable or unwilling to provide care them.
For 23 years Alicia and Corrie worked side by side helping families and children in the communities where we both grew up in the areas of divorce, child custody, child access and visitation, child support alimony, and property disposition. Along the way, following divorce clients would often return seeking prenuptial agreements and wills. Together, we added those areas of practice to the firm enabling us to continue to assist the same clients we had helped through the profoundly life-changing experience of divorce.
Alicia and Corrie planned to continue to assist the people of Maryland with their family law issues together as the Law Offices of Corrie A. Boulay through retirement. However, the unexpected passing of Corrie in January 2024 shined a spotlight on a concept their clients often faced: We make plans and then life happens.
As a result, Alicia is pressing on with the work she and Corrie set out to do together in 2000: providing the same quality legal services to our community, representing clients in the areas of family law, wills, powers of attorney, and advanced directives as SmollonLaw.
